Every roller in your kit compresses. The cup does the opposite — the concave rim creates suction that draws tissue up and away from the fascia beneath it. That is why cupping opens what rolling only warms.
Medium is the size most protocols default to: large enough for the abdomen, small enough for the arm. Turned by hand from urapán.

Directly over bone, varicose veins, open wounds or fresh scar tissue. Suction on a compromised vessel is worse than pressure — assess before you cup.

How to work with it
- 01
Oil for seal
The rim needs a film to seal against. Too little and you get no suction; too much and it slides off.
- 02
Press to create vacuum
Set the rim flat, press down, then ease off. The tissue rises into the cup — that is the effect.
- 03
Glide, do not lift
Move without breaking the seal. Each release and reset marks; a continuous glide does not.

Toward the nodes
Cupping moves fluid. Direct every stroke to where it can drain, never away from it.

Made by hand
We are the workshop, not the middleman
Every KOWÜA tool is turned on our own lathes. We select the timber, cut it, turn it, sand it through progressive grits and finish it by hand. Nothing is bought in and rebranded.
A cup only works if the rim is true. Any flat spot and the seal breaks, and without the seal there is no suction — just a piece of wood being pushed around. We check every rim on a flat surface before it ships.
Buying direct means you get the price of the factory, custom laser engraving with your clinic's name, and someone who can actually change the tool if you need a different profile.

Cleaning and sanitising
Never
Do not autoclave, do not soak, do not put it in a dishwasher and do not leave it submerged in disinfectant. Wood is porous — immersion swells the fibre, raises the grain and will crack the piece. On a cup that also means losing the seal.
- After each clientWipe the rim and the inside of the bell. Oil pools in the hollow.
- Disinfect70% alcohol on the surface, then let it air-dry completely.
- StoreRim up so the inside can breathe, away from direct heat and sun.
If the rim ever feels rough, a light pass with fine sandpaper keeps it true. That is the advantage of an unvarnished finish: it can be renewed, and there is no coating to chip into a client's skin.

How do I know it is the right size?
160 mm tall with a 90 mm rim — it sits in one hand like a bell. Medium is the size most protocols default to: large enough for the abdomen, small enough for the arm.
How does a wooden cup create suction?
The concave bell traps air. Press it flat against oiled skin and release, and the tissue rises into the hollow. No pump, no valve — the seal does the work, which is why the rim has to be true.
Will it leave circular marks?
It can, if you hold it in one place. Gliding without breaking the seal avoids it. Static cupping marks; moving cupping generally does not.
Can I use it on post-surgical clients?
Yes, once your protocol and the surgeon's clearance allow it. Suction is often permitted earlier than deep rolling, but never over incisions.
